Manaiakalani Film Festival by Conor

I really liked the rubbish down the drain movie. The movie was about a boy who littered. His rubbish went down the drain into the sea and a baby turtle ate the rubbish and died. The turtle's dad came to the classroom and said, "don't litter! There are turtles that need to reach the sea and you could kill them by littering. From that day the boy never littered again.

The message was don't litter. I enjoyed the film festival. by Conor

Interact Festival

On Friday the 24th of October, 2014 Sommerville Students went on the bus  to the Interact Festival at Corban's Estate in Henderson. When we got there we had morning tea and after that we went into Shed 2 to do some art and I made a badge which said I "love mum". I had my face painted, as Spider-Man.  I made a cardboard crown and had my photo taken then I made a frame for my photo. I listened to the music and I did  some belly dancing on the stage with lost of other pea. In Shed 1 we had lunch and I got a Goody bag with some treats in it. Then We all went back on the bus to school.

My best part of the day was the belly dancing what a fantastic day it was. by Conor

On Friday some Sommerville students went on the bus to The Interact

Festival in Henderson. We had morning tea and went to shed 2 to colour in and to do some other fun activities.  We listened to music and went on stage and did a belly dance in shed I and then had some lunch.  We went back to school soon after. by William

SPEC Evening by William and Conor

Last night I went with my family to the Spec Evening at Tamaki Intermediate.  I saw some of my friends from Sommerville which was nice. I sat with our class. We all walked to the front of the hall and got a certificate from Diane. Melvin's class performed the raining day song up on the stage.  Melvin played the guitar and fire came out of it. We saw some of our movies as well. Afterwards we had supper and I enjoyed eating Room Two's egg sandwiches. My favourite part of the Spec Evening was receiving a certificate. by William 

Last night me and my famly went to the Spec Evening in the hall. The Students, parents and teachers sat down on the chairs and I sat with my class. The Spec night was at Tamaki Intermeditate. When I was there  my teacher Geara and Bev told our class to sit down in our seats.  We did the Karkia before we watch the Moives thare where a few Movies. After that we all got our certificates and  I got mine and it said Spec Thinking Awarded to Conor Weston for demonstrating the key competency of thinking and completeing the tasks in the "T" for thinking module. I saw lots of Linders art from her art class. Tamaki 2 showed us all a dance and the song was it's raining men.  Melvin played the guitar it was on fire.

I had a cup of tea, strawberrys, our egg sand witches and some chips. They were yum

Ana Goes to the Movies by Ana

When I went to Hoyts Cinema to watch the movies I met up with lots of my old friends from Sylvia Park School . I really enjoyed Sylvia Park Junior’s movie about celebrating birthdays. They had parties and their family came along too.  I felt happy.

I don't like...I like ...

I do not like eggs because they might be rotten.  

I do not like running because my legs get sore.

I do not like alligators because they hide under the bridge at Auckland zoo.

My favourite colour is pink not orange. My favourite T.V programme is Sky Sport not FIFI World Cup. My favourite fruit is apple not pineapple. My favourite place is home not a shopping mall.

Halloween Night by Marciano

On Friday the 31st of October there was a Halloween Party at a Church near our house. Mum, Umi and I got there by walking down to Mt Wellington. While I was waiting for some candy I saw my friends from Sylvia Park.  There was a rock climbing wall there. I had some chips and sausages with tomato sauce on top and it tasted delicious. I crawled up the giant rock on the wall by wearing the helmet, shoulder pads, and some knee pads. After I got to the top of that wall and I got down I won some lollies then I said out loud " The Dragon Warrior is here to join theTeam Avatar”!!!. It was the most amazing party ever.

Sick Weekend

In the weekend all my family and I were ill. We all had a bad stomach bug. My whole family was feeling very ill. We stayed at home all weekend. What a "disaster zone". It started on Friday and it finished on Monday. But Mum and Dad are still ill. Everyone else is better.

I hope the bug does not come back to our family again.

Sneaky - Manaiakalani Film Festival

As a class we decided to make music boxes using cutlery as our instruments.  However, we didn't have enough of our own and went hunting around our school.  This movie shows the process we used .......  Sneaky Sneaky !!!!

Making Music Boxes by Shanann

Last Term I learnt how to hang cutlery on our music boxes from Michelle. In the afternoon, room 1 and room 3 all came to watch us play music boxes outside our classroom.

Our Music Boxes By Troy

We made our music band outside of our class room. We chose our own boxes to play our music. We tied our spoons, knifes & forks into our boxes and then we hit them with other pieces of cutlery to hear the sound that they made.  We tried to play the digeridoos but they were hard to play.  We had fun.

On the weekend I watched Disney Junior and I liked the Mickey Mouse Club the best. I saw Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and Pluto. Pluto was playing with a bouncy ball.

It bounced really high. I was very happy because it was fun.

Pumpkin Masks

On Friday our class made pumpkin masks for Halloween. First we coloured our cardboard orange and then we cut out a circle shape. 

We had oval shapes for the eyes, a triangle nose and a zig zag mouth which we put on our circle. Next we traced around the shapes and then we cut them out. 

Lastly we got some wool and tied it on the mask. I was very happy because it was Halloween.

Saturday at the Library By Troy

Last Saturday I didn’t go to Saturday school because I was at the library all day. ‘‘Dad can I go to the library?’’ and Dad said ‘‘yes’’. I stayed at the library for 6 hours until it closed at 4:00pm. Then I was getting tired watching movies, playing games, listening to music & downloading Apps on my tablet. I went back home by myself.

Saturday School by Conor

On Saturday my family went to Saturday school.  Mum, Ben, Emily, Elliot, me and Dad went to see Geara and I gave Geara a hug and mum did to.

I played the music boxes and they made a lovely sound. After that our family went to the hall because Ben was hungry. Dad took him to get to sausage.

Then I did some art witch was a picture of flowers in a vars. my family tried the sensory toys the best sensory toy was the sensory ball.

After that I had a hot dog with some bread yum. 
Geara  took a photo of me and Mina. I also saw Carmen I was surprised to see hear there.

Table Tennis Yesterday

Yesterday two classes from Edgewater College went to the Table Tennis at Newmarket. At Table Tennis Marciano and I collected up all the balls that fell on the floor.

Clevedon Markets by Conor

Last Saturday I went to the Clevedon markets with my family to buy a treat.

I bought a toothbrush and some smoked cheese. I entered the horse riding race and won!  I won a medal, a goodie bag, and a certificate. After that we had a roast lunch and a smoothie to drink.WeI also got a marshmallow on a stick with chocolate sprinkles on it.

I had an autograph from the Jazz man and friends  and his new CD. The music was great.

We went to church and then after church I got the Upstart magazine. When we got home I started to read my magazine while dinner was cooking.   I could not wait to to watch Lego Ninjago which came with my magazine. My favourite part was when the overlord got defeated.

I really enjoyed Saturday.

Basketball Day by Troy

Yesterday 3 classes went to the bus to Trust Stadium at Henderson. We play basketball and we vs 5 teams and we played our challenge and we won the game in first round, second round, third round and fourth round. Then we got a certificate each.

I drew a city by myself. Dillion drew the window by himself. I went to the Sky-Tower to look dooooooooown! It looks a long way down to the ground.

I drew the windows.  Troy drew the  Sky Tower. The windows in the Sky Tower don’t open so it is safe.

Three weeks ago we made our didgeridoo for Saturday school in class. We coloured blue, green, red, yellow, black & white on our digeridoo. Then we drew pictures and patterns on it and we painted the didgeridoo to make it look like a real one.  We looked at pictures and patterns

and then copied them.

Dillion At The Beach

On Saturday my friend went to the beach.  He asked me to go with him. We rode our bikes there.  When we got there I put my foot in the water. It was cold but we went for a swim.

My PSP & PS4 By Troy

Today my Dad said “my son you have to behave at school to get your PS4, Umm, I mean not your PS4  but your PSP ok.”  Then Troy said “Ok I’ll do it.”  Then I went to school and behaved.  I have to wait a month before Christmas to get my PS4, not my PSP.  I will get my PSP only if I’m being good.

Conor and William are enjoying cooking beef stir fry in class.  They are stirring the beef and vegetables.  They both love cooking and take a keen interest in preparing the ingredients.

I threw the ball to Conor and he threw it back to me.

I liked playing with my friends.

I felt excited because I enjoy playing basketball.

Today at school we talked about blogging and commenting. I talked about Joseph’s stories all about his holiday and weekend. I wish I went rock climbing with Joseph. If I go with Joseph it will be fun and awesome. I hope Dillion will come with us to rock climb. I hope we have a nice trip. Then we will go back to school until 2:10pm or 2:20pm to go back home before 2:30pm. I may get tired when I go on the trip with Joseph.

Making Hamburgers by William

We bought some new games. They were cooking games. 

It is fun playing the games. I like making the food on the iPad. 

The cook makes the food and she gives it to people. 

My favourite food in the game is the hamburger. It is made with a patty, cheese and tomatoes and lettuce. I have to place people on their chairs so that they can order food. There were a lot of people coming in, so I had to be really fast. I have gotten much better at it now.

My Headache by Marciano

Last Friday I had a headache so had to go and lie down in Kay’s class as my head kept hurting and I couldn’t stand it anymore.

I lay down and may even have gone to sleep.  When I woke up our class were having their “Grooming” Sessions so I cleaned my face and combed my hair.  I didn’t want any gel in my hair so I left it as it was.  I hope I don’t have a headache again.  It was nice to rest my head.  I got better.

On Friday the 8^th of August, after morning tea, we had our “Grooming” lessons in our classroom.  First we had to go to the bathroom and brush our teeth and then we came back to class.  I cleaned my face and ears with my flannel, combed my hair with my comb and had gel put in my hair.  Michelle styled my hair and it looked beautiful.  We also cleaned our shoes. I was happy.
